Artist in Residence

Corinne Magron once described herself as "a hippie chick." Certainly, she is a free spirit who hates injustice, cruelty and the establishment's stupidities. She is also a gifted artist with a marvelous eye for color and composition, a soft heart for photos of animals and a demanding spirit for work that meets her high standards. Having lived on six continents and developed expertise in many divergent fields of interest, Corinne's art is as complex as her experience and her personality. She is an original.

Born in Germany, Corinne left that cloudy environment at age 18 ("as soon as I could") for the high mountains and sunny beaches of India, living with a family called "untouchable" by the Indians. Later -- after a time in frigid Montreal -- she spent three years in Brazil. For most of her adult life, she lived alternately in Australia and the exciting Mediterranean island of Ibiza off the coast of Spain. Now a permanent resident of the United States, Corinne maintains a broad network of friends, regularly engaging phone calls in German, Spanish, French, and English.

Corinne is a jazz aficionado with an exquisite ear, having once worked as a disc jockey at a bar in Montreal. She is a creative gourmet cook (with the baker's scars to prove it), reveling in her frequent dinner parties for appreciative friends. She is a disciplined horsewoman: training, riding and caring for her Morab gelding, Sultan.

Only recently did Corinne relax her insistence on orthodox photography to begin processing her work digitally, using a scanner and computer graphics programs. She still uses only her "real" cameras to capture images.

In 2002, Corinne married Doug Wesley to live happily ever after near Cerrillos, NM, with their dogs and cats and horse.

High West Graphics Gallery is proud to present Corinne Magron's body of work. We look forward to seeing the world through her eyes for many years to come.
