Lung Tests

Corinne was apprehensive about the lung tests because she had been told she would be exercised to the point of exhaustion, and periodically arterial blood would be drawn from her to check for oxygen. We worried we would find that she had permanent damage. But, mostly, it was the blood drawing that scared her.

She arrived at the hospital with her exercise clothes and running shoes in a bag, ready for a real workout. To our surprise, the technician told us the change of clothes would not be needed. She would be sitting and blowing for the entire test. AND… there would be no drawing of blood.

Corinne was delighted at how wrong she had been about the test. She had a
great time that morning. When we returned to our clinic, the doctor was upset; he had expected she would
get the full workout. WITH the blood drawings. Ah, well, life is full of disappointments, isn't it?
