We stopped
for two days in Texas. Instead of talking about downsizing our
lives, we began considering that New Mexico, The Land of Enchantment,
might just be too enchanting for people who needed to come down
the mountain every day to earn a living. We thought that we might
need better access to major metropolitan areas, to large airports,
to potential clients and jobs. We worked on turning our apprehension
into excitement.
But, we've
both been spoiled by country living. Besides, we have these five
dogs, two cats and a horse who are all part of our family. So,
we looked at smaller parcels of land between Austin and San Antonio.
While it was much more expensive per acre than our own land, we
figured we could just put a doublewide on it. Maybe we could be
near actual wet, water (a delicious thought to people who live
in a bona fide desert). Maybe Sultan could eat green grass! We
actually succeeded in getting excited. Then we started the last
half of our trip home.
We had an
appointment the next week for CT scans and PET scans to see if
chemotherapy had worked. To see if there were any signs of the
cancer left. And Corinne was scheduled to begin radiation after
the scans reported their news.
