Corinne had
carefully timed the trip to Spain.
During the
course of chemotherapy treatments, she had become weaker and weaker.
It was increasingly predictable that her blood counts would drop,
and she would need both Nupogen shots for her white blood cells
and Procrit for the red blood cells.
The flight
to Spain was three weeks after the last chemotherapy: just time
enough for a full course of Nupogen and two weekly Procrit shots
after low blood test results triggered these treatments. Our doctor
had said he would only approve the trip if her blood counts were
high enough.
Corinne was
right. The blood counts were low, and the daily shots began.
