Corinne loves
to eat good food, so I always brought her something special while
she was hooked up to the IV tubes: sushi, a big chicken Caesar
salad, fresh soup. This day it was spring rolls from her favorite
Vietnamese restaurant. Thank God nausea no longer has to be part
of the chemo experience!
No matter
her mood or her energy level, Corinne always perked up for these
lunches. And she usually insisted that the nurses share.
Since my tastes
are far more mundane, I would usually eat a take-out burger on
the way back to the clinic. I enjoyed watching her perk up during
this bright spot of the day, and always sat by her while she was
busy eating.
