We do our
very best to laugh every day. There are no sacred topics, no unspeakable
issues. Everything is a potential target for a joke, especially
the many indignities of cancer and the treatment of cancer.
Some days,
the battles that cancer brings on us make us feel that we can
no longer bear it
that we can no longer fight. Even on those
days, we can almost always find something to laugh at. And, once
the laughter begins, there is release. Somehow, we make it to
the next day.
Laughter exists
in the present, the one safe place for both of us.
